Lenny’s Sub Shop in Asheville Opens August 22
August 28, 2006
D and M Restaurant Co., LLC Now Serving Guests on Hendersonville Road
Memphis, TN ? Lenny’s Franchisor, franchisor of Lenny’s Sub Shop, today announced the opening date for the first restaurant in Asheville, North Carolina. Lenny’s #91 at 1838 Hendersonville Road opened on August 22, 2006. This is the first of five restaurants that D and M Restaurant Co. franchisees Mark Hermann and Danny Fisher will open in the Asheville market. The next location is at 645 Biltmore Avenue and is scheduled to open in early 2007.
Lenny’s Sub Shop, a Philadelphia-style sub shop with fresh baked bread and the finest quality deli meat and cheese, opened in a Memphis suburb in 1998 and started franchising in 2001. In the past months, Lenny’s has made announcements for multi-restaurant packages in several states, including California, Nevada, Texas, Michigan and Virginia. Lenny’s is on track to open hundreds of restaurants in the next few years.
While living in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the Hermanns and the Fishers frequented the local Lenny’s Sub Shop and quickly became loyal customers. After moving to Asheville a couple of years ago, they realized they missed enjoying a Lenny’s sandwich and were willing to invest in the product.
“I love the food at Lenny’s, and I truly believe Lenny’s makes a better sandwich,” said Mark Hermann. “It all comes down to the product.”
Mark and Danny chose to open the restaurants in Asheville because of their familiarity with the area. Asheville is also ideal for restaurants because of the substantial growth in the area and its capacity for tourism. In addition, the city has been ranked numerous times as one of the best places to live in the country, as well as one of the best small metro areas for business.
“Asheville can appreciate a superior quality sandwich in a courteous and friendly atmosphere,” said Hermann. “And once we’re open, Asheville won’t find a better cheesesteak!”
