George Alvord
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
George Alvord is Chairman, CEO and majority owner of Lenny's Franchisor, LLC, parent company of Lenny's Sub Shops. Mr. Alvord, who has over forty-five years of food service experience, is the former CEO of Dobbs International, a global market leader in airline catering. During his tenure at Dobbs, he more than doubled the catering company’s sales, propelling the company to the number two position in the world.
Mr. Alvord and 15 other Memphis investors purchased the Lenny’s Sub Shop chain in 2004 from founders Len and Sheila Moore. Mr. Alvord’s goal is to create a world-class franchising organization that would elevate Lenny’s to a well-known national brand. To date, Lenny’s has granted rights to open over 500 more restaurants in Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, California, South Carolina, Nevada and New Mexico.
Prior to Lenny’s Franchisor, LLC, Mr. Alvord held executive positions with the Marriott Corporation and the Servomation Corporation.
Mr. Alvord believes in supporting the community where he works. He is a former member of the University of Memphis Board of Visitors; Chairman of the Board of Advisors for the Fogelman College; and a member and former Chairman of the Memphis Development Foundation (Orpheum Theatre.) He has served and supported the Child Advocacy Center, Young Life, Juvenile Intervention & Faith-Based Follow-Up (JIFF, Inc.), Campus Crusade, and many other community based organizations. Mr. Alvord attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University. Additionally, Mr. Alvord has completed graduate hours in the areas of marketing and finance. He and his wife have four children and eight grandchildren, and reside in Memphis, Tennessee.
Carl Jacobson
General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer
Carl Jacobson is the General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer of Lenny’s Franchisor, LLC. Mr. Jacobson graduated from the Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1983, spent four years as a prosecutor in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, and spent the next 12 years in the private practice of law in Memphis, Tennessee, where he devoted most of his time representing businesses in commercial and employment litigation.
In 1999, Mr. Jacobson went in house with one of his clients, Dobbs/Gate Gourmet, as General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for the world’s second largest airline caterer, where he remained until he joined Lenny’s. Mr. Jacobson leads all corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives for Lenny’s Franchisor, LLC. He provides legal counsel and direction to all levels of management and is involved in negotiating and finalizing various contracts and business transactions. In addition to overseeing the operations of the Legal Department, he oversees Construction, Training and Performance, Real Estate, Logistics and Compliance Departments. Mr. Jacobson and his wife have five children and reside in Lakeland, Tennessee.
Brent Alvord, CFE
President

Brent H. Alvord, President of Lenny’s Franchisor, LLC, was a key member of the private equity team that acquired Lenny's Sub Shop and has been instrumental in Lenny’s rapid growth. He is a Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) with the International Franchise Association. He has helped establish the foundations for world class departments in the areas of finance, marketing, operations, purchasing, information technology, restaurant construction, and franchise sales. Alvord helped sell hundreds of restaurants and is also responsible for the creation of a proprietary point of sale software that networks all restaurants to provide business intelligence and marketing information. He currently oversees the Franchise Sales, Finance, IT and Marketing Departments.
Prior to Lenny’s, Mr. Alvord worked at LNR Properties in Miami Beach, FL, where his duties included planning and strategy, investor and rating agency relations, and work on a variety of complicated financial transactions. Before LNR, Mr. Alvord worked for AOL, where he was involved in the launch of an international division, and worked on international consolidation and planning, online business intelligence systems, and marketing. Prior to AOL, Mr. Alvord held several positions dealing with finance, strategy, marketing, and technology at Burger King and FedEx. He has bachelor’s degree in Social Work and an MBA in Finance from the University of Memphis. He has a personal focus on enhancing the Memphis community and serves on the board for several non-profit organizations: Bridges, the University Neighborhoods Development Corporation and the Child Advocacy Center. Mr. Alvord and his wife have two young boys and a baby girl and reside in Memphis, Tennessee.
John Strand, CFE
Vice President, Operations
John Strand serves Lenny’s Franchisor, LLC as Vice President of Operations. He is responsible for system-wide restaurant performance, quality assurance, compliance and the profitable operation of corporately owned restaurants. He leads his team to ensure the consistent execution of the proven Lenny's Sub Shop system driving customer loyalty and franchisee profitability.
Mr. Strand is also responsible for the education and development of franchisees and their operating teams. He serves as the Dean of Lenny's University and continually develops, expands and implements new training processes, online programs, materials and technologies to enhance unit level economics and employee satisfaction.
Prior to joining Lenny’s in 2004, Mr. Strand had twelve years of writing, directing and production experience in film and television in the retail food industry. He also served on the corporate staff of Fleming Companies, Inc., a supermarket wholesale distribution company and supermarket franchisor. While at the Fleming Companies, Mr. Strand worked to produce education and development programs for use in the supermarket industry.
Mr. Strand was an owner of three franchised restaurants in Memphis, Tennessee. He has received his Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) from the International Franchise Association in 2010 and his BA from from the University of Memphis in 1993.
Andrew Bryant
Senior Director, Finance and Real Estate
Andrew Bryant serves Lenny’s as the Senior Director of Finance and Real Estate. He has several years of commercial real estate experience in addition to his background and education in finance and accounting. Andrew is a licensed CPA and a licensed real estate broker.
Prior to joining the Lenny’s team, Andrew worked at Deloitte & Touche as a consultant in the Assurance and Enterprise Risk Services division. During his time at Deloitte, Andrew performed financial statement analysis for companies such as International Paper, Viking Range Corporation, and Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Andrew received both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from the University of Mississippi. He, his wife and their young son reside in Germantown, TN.
Anita Howald
Director, Information Technology
Anita Howald joined Lenny’s Sub Shops’ corporate team as Director of Information Technology in February 2005. Anita brought more than twelve years of experience developing database systems for companies in a variety of industries. Most recently, Anita served as the Project Team Manager/Systems Analyst at Gate Gourmet Division Americas. Anita’s primary responsibility at Lenny's is to develop and maintain a fully integrated Point Of Sale system for all franchisees, and as Director, IT, Anita plans, organizes and executes all IT functions.
Anita has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems/Computer Science from The University of West Florida since 1993 and a Masters of Science Degree in Computer Science from University of Memphis since 2002. She and her husband live in Bartlett, Tennessee.
Holly Baker
Director, Marketing and Public Relations
Holly Baker is the Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Lenny’s Franchisor, LLC. Her time is focused on developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies for the franchise. She leads her team to educate and engage franchisees in corporate marketing initiatives and brand responsibility. Ms. Baker originally joined Lenny’s in 2007 as a Franchise Development Representative, and worked to recruit new franchisees. Prior to joining Lenny’s, Ms. Baker worked at CBS affiliate WREG-TV in Memphis, Tennessee as an account executive. She graduated from the University of Alabama where she received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Communication. Ms. Baker currently resides in Memphis, TN.
Molly Fitzpatrick
Director, Training
Molly Fitzpatrick joined Lenny’s in June of 2005 as a Marketing Coordinator, aiding in new restaurant development. During her four years with the company, Molly transitioned from the Marketing Department into the Education and Training Department. Now, as the Director of Training, she will continue to spearhead the restaurant skills development program, in addition to developing a variety of tools and training materials for the franchise community.
Molly’s passion for the food industry began years ago when she founded her own pastry business. Molly earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at Rhodes College. She currently resides in Memphis, TN.
Kelly Patterson
Director, Accounting
Kelly Patterson, Director of Accounting, joined Lenny’s in April 2007 with more than nine years of experience in the accounting and finance fields. This includes application of GAAP, financial reporting, cash management and SEC compliance. Prior to joining Lenny’s, she was the Controller of a large office supply company after spending five years with a Registered Investment Advisory Firm.
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Christian Brothers University. She is currently sitting for her CPA license. Kelly and her husband reside in Memphis, TN.
