Lenny's triples Facebook fans over three daysFebruary 17, 2011

Lenny's Sub Shop has so far tripled its Facebook fans using a promotion that is barely four days old.
The Memphis-based chain is offering a coupon for a free half-pound sub to all of its new and existing Facebook fans. So far, those fans have grown from 11,000 to more than 36,300.
The promotional idea came about when Lenny’s was working with Atlanta-based No Limit Media Consulting. The company tracks social media and found that one of its other client’s giveaways increased membership significantly.
Since Lenny’s has been focused on technology, having developed its own point-of-sale system, for example, the company decided to give this a try.
“Facebook is a mechanism for spreading positive word-of-mouth electronically and spreading it fast,” Lenny’s president Brent Alvord said in a Memphis Business Journal interview last week.
The promotion rewards loyal customers, but also entices people to try Lenny’s products.
“We feel we have a strong product, and to get people in the door to try that product is crucial,” Alvord said.
The promotion will run from Feb. 14-20. Lenny’s currently has 150 stores in 19 states and looks to keep growing.
