Wynne Progress - Lenny's to add restaurants in Wynne and Forrest CityNovember 03, 2006
Visitors to the Technology Center for the Delta may have never noticed it has a little empty space on its south end, but they soon will learn a lot about the hidden room.
Lenny's Franchisor, LLC, franchisor of Lenny's Sub Shops, announced Oct. 30 an agreement for two restaurants in St. Francis and Cross counties.
DCJR, Inc. partners David Cohn and Justin Reeves will open Lenny's Sub Shops in Forrest City and Wynne in the coming months. The first restaurant is located at 1790 North Falls Boulevard inside the Tech Center in Wynne and is scheduled to open in early 2007.
The sub shop in the Tech Center will be located in the final empty parcel of space in the front corner of the building nearest to the Sonic Restaurant.
According to building manager James Langston, once Lenny's is moved into the building, the Tech Center will be fully occupied.
The restaurant will likely have two entrances, one on the side of the Tech Center and another on the exterior of the building so the restaurant can remain open even when the Tech Center is closed.
Although construction has not yet begun, Langston said that it will likely be a speedy process as the 3,000 square foot parcel already has several hook-ups installed such as air conditioning and electricity.
DJCR calls eastern Arkansas home and is familiar with both Wynne and Forrest City. They chose Lenny's because they wanted to bring the quality food and concept to their hometown market, officials said.
In addition, both Cohn and Reeves have business experience in these markets.
Cohn is the owner of Forrest City Grocery Company, a wholesale food distributor, and retail tobacco stores, while Reeves, who will be the general manager, has owned his own business in the area for the past few years.
"We believe the people in Wynne and Forrest City will appreciate great food and excellent service," said Cohn.
"Towns like these tend to support local business and we know that they will support Lenny's and become frequent guests."
Recently, Lenny's has opened several restaurants in new markets, including Birmingham, Ala., Asheville, N.C. And Savannah, Ga. In addition, they have sold multi-restaurant packages in several states, including Virginia, South Carolina, Michigan, California, Indiana and Kansas. Lenny's is scheduled to open hundreds of restaurants in the next few years.
